Juniors Lily Wagner and Emily Benjamin each scored goals to give the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team a 2-0 shut out win over Towanda on Friday, October 11.
The win was Wellsboro's third straight win of the week. There was no JV game.
Wagner struck with 14:17 left in the first half to put Wellsboro up 1-0, which they held until Benjamin sent a shot past the Towanda keeper with just under 3 minutes remaining in the game.
Sophomore Jadyn Dunlap stopped all 10 of Towanda's shot attempts for her fifth shutout of the season.
Wellsboro also had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks and took 7 shots on goal.
Wellsboro improves to 5-7-2 overall and 4-6-2 in the Northern Tier League. The team is back in action this morning at Loyalsock.
