JV Hornets Win Troy Tournament

The Wellsboro JV Baseball team went 3-0 yesterday to win the Troy JV Tournament.

In the first game the Hornets beat Sayre 8-1, then defeated Troy 4-3 and defeated Canton 6-4 in the third and final game.

Freshman Max Mascho led the Hornets against Sayre, going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and stolen base. Freshman Braxton Kerr was 1-for-1 with an RBI, run scored and stolen base, freshman Syler Pietrzyk was 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and 2 RBIs. He also scored 2 runs. Sophomore Cameron Owlett was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Sophomore Jacob Heckman and freshman Izaya Campbell also scored runs in the game.

Owlett threw a no-hit, 4-inning game with 8 strikeouts and 3 walks.

Against Troy, freshman Nathan Love went 2-for-2 and stole a base, Owlett was 2-for-3 and scored 2 runs, freshman Coen Tennis was 2-for-3 with a triple and 2 RBIs and a run, junior Dustin Owlett was 1-for-3 with a double and RBI, Pietrzyk was 1-for-2 with a walk, and Mascho was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.

Pietrzyk scattered 4 hits over 5 innings with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks.

Against Canton, Cameron Owlett was 2-for-3 and scored a pair of runs and Tennis and Love were both 1-for-2 with Love driving in a run. Mascho drew 2 walks, stole 2 bases, drove in a run and scored a run while Dustin Owlett, Campbell, Kerr, sophomore Noah Zengerle, and sophomore Dylan Copp all drew walks. Zengerle and Copp scored runs and Dustin Owlett drove in 2 runs. Pietrzyk also scored a run.

Dustin Owlett threw three innings, allowing 4 rubs (3 earned) on 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and a walk.
