The Wellsboro Junior High Track teams started their season off by sweeping a tri-meet with Sayre and Williamson on Wednesday, April 17.
The boys team scored 99.5 points to take first ahead of Williamson (26) and Sayre (3.5) while the girls team won with 120 points. Williamson (7) took 2nd and Sayre (2) took home 3rd.
For the boys, Taitt Webster won the 800m (2:46.9) with Fen Moyer (3:02.1) in 3rd, Lane Cozby (5:58.70), Moyer (6:03.6) and Webster (6:15.6) were 2nd-4th in the 1600m, Xavier Lecker (12.4) and Octavian Wyman (13.6) took the top two spots in the 100m, Lecker (26.3) also won the 200m with Brycen Witmer (30.6) in 3rd, Austin DeShazo (1:09.9) won the 400m with Jack Hammerton (1:20.4) taking 3rd, and Liam Stevens (17.0) and Brayden Benjamin (19.6) swept the 100m hurdles.
Wellsboro won both relays, taking the 4x100m in 51.4 and the 4x400m in 4:43.3.
Ransom Schultz (32-ft, 11) and Conlen Whitsell (27-ft, 11) swept the shot put, Whitsell (82-ft, 5) won the discus with DeShazo (66-ft, 1) taking 3rd. Stevens (17-ft, 5), Wyman (16-ft, 9) and Benjamin (14-ft, 10) swept the long jump, Schultz (32-ft, 2), Benjamin (31-ft, 8) and Stephen Tokarz (28-ft, 1) took the top 3 spots in the triple jump, and Stevens (5-ft, 4) won the high jump.
In the girls meet Wellsboro swept the 800m with Kaci Kosek (3:00.2), Molly Tice (3:30.8) and Claire Smith (4:02.5) taking the top three spots. Kosek (6:26.4), Addie Chaborek (7:07.5), Jenna Sweet (7:28.7) and Anja Przybycien (7:29.6) swept the 1600m, Dillyn Patt (14.1), Piper Perry (14.4), and Luna Moyer (14.4) swept the 100m, Perry (30.8), Kate Bryant (31.8) and Jennifer Belz (32.2) swept the 200m, Olive Twoey (1:15.0), Joelle Bull (1:16.9) and Bella Hawn (1:17.3) swept the 400m, and Belz (17.6) won the 100m hurdles with Kosek (19.7), Twoey (20.1) and Penelope Pell (20.9) finishing 3rd-5th.
The Lady Hornets also swept the relays, winning the 4x100m in 56.8 and the 4x400m in 5:12.0.
Katie Whitney (22-ft 1), Kaydence Pierce (21-ft, 6.5) and Serenity Mosher (21-ft, 4) swept the shot put, Whitney (47-ft, 10), Pierce (47-ft, 4) and Piper Anderegg (46-ft, 11) swept the discus. Lauren Gehman (15-ft, 3), Patt (12-10) and Pierce (12-ft, 9) swept the long jump, Gehman (30-ft, 10), June Roth (27-ft, 6) and Pell (21-ft, 9) swept the triple jump, and Gehman (4-ft, 2) won the high jump.
The team is back in action tomorrow for their first home meet of the season with Athens and rival North Penn-Mansfield.
