A pair of goals from Gage Baltzley led the Wellsboro Junior High Soccer team to a 3-0 win on the road at Towanda on Tuesday, September 24.
Baltzley scored 6:32 into the contest from 20 yards out to put the young Hornets up early. He later scored with 3:52 remaining in the first half off an assist from Evan Rawson.
Liam Stevens scored Wellsboro's second goal with 18:59 remaining in the opening half on a breakaway goal.
"They did a good job interrupting our offense inside the box tonight but we were able to find the net the first half," head coach Derek Stevens said. "Our defense did a great job limiting Towanda's possession on our defensive end, which allowed us to hold the possession offensively for a large amount of time."
Wellsboro out shot Towanda 16-3. Maddon Mascho and Benjamin Jackson (2) combined for 3 saves in goal.
Towanda won the B game 1-0.
Wellsboro (6-1) hosts Athens Saturday afternoon.
