Junior High Hornets Notch 3rd Wins Of Season

The Wellsboro Junior High Track teams kept their perfect records in tact by sweeping Troy on Thursday, April 25.

The young Lady Hornets ran away with the meet, winning 89-19 while the boys won 66-43.

For the girls, Jennifer Belz (17.3) and Kaci Kosek (19.2) were 1st and 3rd in the 100m hurdles, Luna Moyer (14.0), Piper Perry (14.24), and Dillyn Patt (14.42) swept the 100m, Kosek (6:15.0), Penelope Pell (7:08.0) and Anja Przybycien (7:09.0) swept the 1600m, and Olive Twoey (1:14.4) won the 400m with Hannah Looney (1:21.51) in 3rd.

Wellsboro swept both relays, claiming 1st in the 4x100m in 57.01 and the 4x400m in 5:13.52.

Kosek (3:07.) and Claire Smith (4:14.0) went 1-2 in the 800m and Perry (29.98), Belz (30.56) and Kate Bryant (30.62) swept the 200m.

Katie Whitney (52-ft, 10), Piper Anderegg (47-ft, 3) and Serenity Mosher (45-ft, 2) finished 2nd-4th in the discus, Mosher (22-ft, 7), Belz (21-ft, 10) and Whitney (21-ft, 7) were 2nd-4th in the shot put, Lauren Gehman (15-ft, 3) and Patt (13-ft, 8) took the top two spots in the long jump, Gehman (30-ft, 8) and Isla Twoey (30-ft, 3) finished 1-2 in the triple jump, and Gehman completed the sweep by clearing 4-ft, 4 in the high jump. June Roth also hit 4-ft, 4 in the high jump to finish 2nd.

In the boys meet Liam Stevens (16.34) and Brayden Benjamin (18.25) swept the 100m hurdles, Xavier Lecker (12.25) won the 100m, Taitt Webster (6:01.0) and Fen Moyer (6:09.0) were 3rd and 4th in the 1600m, and Austin DeShazo (1:12.8) finished 2nd in the 400m.

The Hornets split with Troy in the relays. Wellsboro won the 4x100m in 51.5 and were 2nd in the 4x400m (4:33.0).

Moyer (2:39.06), Webster (2:57.06) and Jack Hammerton (3:19.11) were 3rd-5th in the 800m, and Lecker (25.5) won the 200m.

Conlen Whitsell (95-ft, 9) won the discus with Connor Hartman (70-ft, 4) and DeShazo (70-ft, 3) in 3rd and 4th, Ransom Schultz (36-ft) won the shot put with Whitsell (26-ft, 9) taking 3rd, Stevens (18-ft, 1), Octavian Wyman (15-ft, 7) and Benjamin (14-ft, 8) swept the long jump, Benjamin (31-ft, 8) and Schultz (31-ft, 3) went 1-2 in the triple jump, and Stevens (4-ft, 8), Hartman (4-ft, 6) and Wyman (4-ft, 6) swept the high jump.

Wellsboro hosts Canton on Monday.
