The Wellsboro Junior High Baseball team swept a doubleheader with Sayre in their final game of the season on Thursday, May 23.
Wellsboro won game one 14-1 and won game two 10-6.
The first game was scoreless through the first two innings until the Hornets poured on the offense, scoring 4 times in the 3rd and 4th innings, and 6 runs in the 5th.
Kody Enck and RJ Doughtie both finished 3-for-4 at the plate with Enck hitting a triple, 4 RBIs, and scored 3 runs. Doughtie also drove in three runs. Reed Richardson was 3-for-5 with an RBI and scored 2 runs while Maddon Mascho, Griffin Morral, and Wyatt Sporer were all 2-for-4. Mascho drove in two runs and scored one, Morral tripled and drove in 2 runs and scored three times, and Sporer scored three times and drove in two. Gage Baltzley was also 1-for-4 and Logan Johnson scored once.
Jake Starkweather went the distance on the mound, striking out 7 while allowing 1 run on 3 hits.
In game two the Hornets scored 3 runs in the 1st and then added 7 more in the 2nd. Both teams played into the 4th innings with no scoring.
Eli Nowak and Matthew Robbins were both 2-for-2 at the plate and Chase Schultz, Keegan VanZile, and Jordan Hines were all 1-for-2. Johnson, Sawyer Mead, Logan Stevens all scored twice in the game while Schultz, Nowak, Hines, and Dennis McIntyre scored solo runs.
James Doughtie got the win on the mound, throwing 1 & 1/3 innings with 3 strikeouts.
