Wellsboro's Junior High Girls Basketball team evened the season series with a 37-18 victory over North Penn-Mansfield on Monday, January 8.
Teagan Novinger led the team with her second double-double this season, scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 boards. Kate Bryant added 10 points and she also led the team with 4 steals. Lauren Gehman got into foul trouble early, but still contributed 9 points and 5 rebounds. Ady Frantz added 6 points.
The B team got off to a slow start, but found their groove in the 2nd half. They won 31-6. Aileen Bowers led the team with 8 points and 2 rebounds. Hailey Smith was right behind her with 7 points and hustled for 8 steals. Gena Fleming added 4 points and 2 more boards. Hailee Jo Benedict, Shayla Hamblin, Rosa Sguera, Isla Twoey, Paityn Biery and Kya Lawton all chipped in 2 points.
The win is Wellsboro's 7th win in a row as they improve to 10-2. The team is back in action for their final home game of the season Wednesday night against Wyalusing.
