Seniors Micaiah Fitch, Micah Vickery, and Alex Citrino and head coach Todd Fitch swept the Northern Tier League's Boys Soccer All-Star major awards as the league announced the teams on Tuesday, October 31.

Fitch was named the league's Player of the Year, Citrino was the Offensive Player of the Year and Vickery was selected as the league's Defensive Player of the Year.

Coach Fitch and staff were also recognized as the Coaching Staff of the Year.

In total seven Hornets comprised both the 1st and 2nd teams.

Fitch and Citrino both tied for the team lead with 21 goals each. Citrino finished with 56 points, 14 assists and 51 shots while Fitch had 52 points, 10 assists, and 84 shots. Vickery had 5 points, 2 goals, an assist, and helped junior Camden Tom record 8 shut outs.

"It's not easy when you're the son of the coach," said Fitch. "It's hard to get away from the critique and criticism of the coach's voice even when away from the field. In spite of that, Micaiah bounced back after missing his sophomore season because of a back injury and had strong junior and senior seasons finishing his varsity career with 37 goals and 24 assists (to date). Having other coaches in the league nominate and select him for this award makes me happy for Micaiah and proud of his resilience."

"Alex was the 2022 NTL newcomer of the year with 5 goals and 13 assists his sophomore season. Sadly, a knee injury kept him sidelined for much of his junior season. Regardless, Alex's determination and work ethic contributed to his recovery and return for an impactful senior season finishing his varsity career with 28 goals and 28 assists (to date)."

"Micah has been a poised and steadfast center back for the varsity team over the last two seasons. There are not many published stats for defenders, but there is no doubt that Micah had a profound impact on the team’s league championships and advancement in the postseason during his junior and senior seasons."

Joining Fitch, Citrino, and Vickery on the all-star teams are senior Lucas Cuneo, junior David Seeling, senior Owen Stevens, and junior Jude Cuneo.

Lucas Cuneo and Seeling were both 1st team selections in the midfield, Stevens was a 1st team defender, and Jude Cuneo was a 2nd team midfielder.

Lucas Cuneo was 4th on the team with 12 goals, 32 points and 8 assists. Seeling was 3rd on the team with 40 points, 14 goals and 12 assists. Jude Cuneo scored 2 goals, made 6 assists and scored 10 points. Stevens, like Vickery, helped contribute to 8 team shut outs and just 26 allowed goals in the Hornets' 15 season wins.

WellsboroSoccer.com congratulates Micaiah, Micah, Alex, Coach Fitch, Lucas, Jude, Davidm and Owen on their all-star selections.
