The Wellsboro Boys Basketball team evened up their season record after doubling up Williamson, 60-30, on Tuesday, December 17.
The Hornets had a four-point, 15-11 lead after the opening quarter, then turned on the offense by outscoring the Warriors 17-6 in the 2nd and then 19-7 in the 3rd. Wellsboro closed out the game with a 9-6 4th quarter.
Junior Luke Rothermel led all scorers with 15 points on the night, while senior Mitchel Lechler added 13 to also finish in double figures. Junior Jonathan Carl added 9 points and 5 rebounds, sophomore Colin Fletcher had 5 points, junior Marek Mascho and senior Lucas Cuneo both added 4 points, sophomores Ethan Keane and Max Mascho pitched in 3 points apiece, and freshmen Ransom Schultz and Griffin Morral rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.
Rothermel added 12 boards to finish with a double-double, Schultz pulled down 6 rebounds, and Marek Mascho made 4 steals and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Jack Nolan scored 14 points to lead Williamson.
Wellsboro's JV team also evened their record up at 2-2 on the year after they defeated Williamson 41-25 to kick off the evening. Schultz led all scorers with 13 points while sophomore Gideon Lawton added 8 points and freshman Kody Enck chipped in 7 points.
Wellsboro (2-2, 2-1 NTL Large School Division) takes on rival North Penn-Mansfield Thursday in the Margaret (Peg) Berguson Memorial Trophy Game.
