Hornet Track Teams Bring Home 4th Place Finishes At Molly Dry Invite

Wellsboro's Boys and Girls Track teams each captured 4th place finishes at Mansfield University's Molly Dry Invite on Thursday, April 11.

For the boys, sophomore Jonathan Carl (12.25) finished 9th in the 100m followed by senior Jack Bryant (12.29) in 12th, Bryant (26.12) finished 16th in the 200m followed by sophomore Jacoby Strang (26.14) in 17th, and Carl won the 400m with a time of 53.01. Junior Micah Vickery was 5th in the 110m hurdles (17.12) and 4th in the 300m hurdles (45.37).

Sophomore Jude Cuneo (2:15.72) was 9th in the 800m, sophomore Max Macias was 7th in the 1600m (5:00.11) and 9th in the 3200m (11:14.67). Cuneo (7:14.75) and Macias (7:19.88) also finished 6th and 7th, respectively, in the 2000m Steeplechase.

The Hornets took 4th in the 4x100m relay (46.83), 6th in the 4x400m (3:58.97) and 4th in the 4x800m (9:41.11).

Junior Gabe Carpenter (9-ft, 6) was 10th in the pole vault, Vickery (5-ft, 6) tied for 6th in the high jump with sophomore David Seeling (5-ft, 4) finishing in 8th, junior Micaiah Fitch was 15th in the long jump (16-ft, 10.5) and 14th in the triple jump (34-ft, 0.5).

Senior Noah Morey was 3rd in the shot put (39-ft, 3), 2nd in the discus (129-ft, 10) and won the javelin with a throw of 154-ft, 1. Senior Watson Feil took 2nd in the javelin at 149-ft, 4.

For the girls, freshman Piper Hoprich (13.06) won the 100m, senior Maddy Mascho (31.68) was 13th in the 200m, junior Emma Mosher (1:44.07) was 16th in the 400m, senior Sara Seeling was 9th in the 100m hurdles (19.04) and 6th in the 300m hurdles (53.87).

Freshman Megan Newruck (3:15.50) was 18th in the 800m, freshman Lauren Kosek was 3rd in the 1600m (5:36.82) and 3rd in the 3200m (11:58.63).

Wellsboro's 4x800m relay (13:00.10) was 4th.

Sophomore Brooke Wheeler (5-ft, 6) tied for 9th in the pole vault, junior Annie Gehman tied for 2nd in the high jump (4-ft, 6), won the long jump (15-ft), and placed 2nd in the triple jump (33-ft, 9.75).

Senior Grace Harlan (29-ft, 8.25) was 5th in the shot put, senior Hannah Gilmour (86-ft, 10) and junior Paige Logsdon (80-ft, 5) were 5th and 6th in the discus, and Logsdon won the javelin (100-ft, 3) with Seeling (89-ft, 6) taking 3rd.

Wellsboro returns home to celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday, April 16 against Sayre and Wyalusing. Ceremonies will begin at 3:00 p.m.
