The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Cross Country team split a pair of races with Athens and Wyalusing on Tuesday, September 24.
Athens defeated Wellsboro 21-38 and Wellsboro beat Wyalusing 28-28 on a 6th place runner finish. Athens also beat Wyalusing, 22-35.
Junior Max Macias led the Hornets with a 2nd place finish in 17:44. Junior Henry Whitney (18:59) came home 7th, freshman Lane Cozby (21:59) was 11th, junior Henry Nowak (24:03) crossed the finish line in 17th, freshman Jack Hammerton (25:15) was 19th, and junior Ethan Geneski (29:15) was 22nd.
Wellsboro also split with Athens and Wyalusing in the Junior High race. Wellsboro beat Athens 8-13 and lost 44-15 to Wyalusing.
Taitt Webster (12:40) finished 8th overall to lead the young Hornets while Austin DeShazo (13:33) was 9th and Jacob Patterson (13:34) was 10th.
The team is back in action against Towanda and Cowanesque Valley next Tuesday.
