Gehman Places 5th In Long Jump At Districts

Junior Annie Gehman brought home the first district medal for the Wellsboro Lady Hornets' Track team with a 5th place finish in the long jump in the first day of competition at Williamsport on Thursday, May 16.

Gehman jumped 15-ft, 8, 15-ft, 8.75 and 15-ft, 9 in her three jumps in her flight to reach the finals. She hit her final mark of 16-ft, 3.5 on her final attempt.

In other action, freshman Piper Hoprich took 1st in her 100m prelim heat (12.65) then dropped a tenth of a second in her semi-final run (12.55) to finish 2nd and qualify for Saturday's finals.

Sophomore Sophia Yoder (13.70) finished 20th in the 100m, senior Sara Seeling (18.53) was 23rd in the 100m hurdles, and senior Hannah Gilmour (85-ft, 6) was 14th in the discus.

Wellsboro placed 15th in the 4x800m relay in 11:53.91.
