The Wellsboro Junior High Girls Track team ran away from the field to win the NTL Championship on Tuesday, May 9.
The young Lady Hornets scored 144,5 points to take 1st, followed by Towanda (80.5), Williamson (73), Troy (49), North Penn-Mansfield (46), Wyalusing (46), Athens (38), Canton (18), Sayre (9), and Northeast Bradford (2).
North Penn-Mansfield won the boys meet with 102 points, followed by Athens (88), Towanda (72), Wyalusing (63), Troy (48), Canton (48), Wellsboro (38), Williamson (21), Sayre (19), and Northeast Bradford (5).
For the girls Piper Hoprich won the 100m (12.72) and the 200m (27.28), Isla Twoey (1:10.53) was 3rd in the 400m with Bella Hawn (1:10.84) in 5th, Lauren Kosek was 2nd in the 800m (2:44.21) and won the 1600m (5:43.39), and Jennifer Belz (19.26), Twoey (19.64), and Blake Eckart (19.65) were 4th-6th in the 100m hurdles.
Lauren Gehman swept all the jumping events, winning the high jump (5-ft), the long jump (13-ft, 10.25), and the triple jump (29-ft, 9). Megan Newruck (4-ft, 2) finished 3rd in the high jump, and Aileen Bowers was 5th in the shot put (25-ft, 8) and 2nd in the discus (63-ft, 9).
Wellsboro took both relays, winning the 4x100m in 55.72 and the 4x400m in 4:45.94.
For the boys Landon Andrews was 13th in the 100m (13.89) and 12th in the 200m (28.45), Owen Stumbo (1:09.62) was 16th in the 400m, Fen Moyer was 13th in the 800m (2:55.40) and 14th in the 1600m (6:28.62), and Bradyn Benjamin (19.76) and Colin Fletcher (20.24) were 6th and 7th in the 100m hurdles, respectively.
Fletcher (5-ft) was 4th in high jump, Octavian Wyman (13-ft, 11) and Zander Rachiele (13-ft, 7.5) were 4th and 5th in the long jump, Benjamin (26-ft, 6.75) was 6th in the triple jump, and Rachiele finished 13th in the shot put (25-ft, 9.5) and 3rd in the discus (91-ft, 10).
Wellsboro's 4x100m relay team finished 4th overall in 58.11 and the 4x400m relay team was 8th (4:57.36).
