Towanda rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to edge the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Soccer team 2-1 in an early morning game on Saturday, September 16.
The Lady Hornets struck first with 31:31 remaining in the first quarter when junior Annie Gehman put a shot through the back of the net. However, the Black Knights only trailed for a couple of minutes, and scored back-to-back goals in a span of two minutes to take a 2-1 lead, which they held the rest of the game.
Towanda edged Wellsboro 14-13 on shot attempts but the Lady Hornets had a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman Jadyn Dunlap and Towanda's Clara Glantz each made 12 saves in their respective goals.
There was no JV game.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-5 (1-4 NTL). The team is back in action on Monday at Northeast Bradford.
