The Wellsboro Girls Basketball team made the long trek over to Northeast Bradford but came up short on the scoreboard in a 67-45 loss on Tuesday, December 12.
NEB jumped out to a 17-10 lead after the opening quarter and increased their lead to 31-19 with a 14-point second quarter.
The Lady Panthers increased their lead to 52-35 thanks to a 21-point 3rd quarter, then outscored the Lady Hornets 15-10 in the final frame to close out the game.
Junior Chloe Brandenburg had a game-high 21 points to lead Wellsboro while senior Emily Morris finished with 9 and Elizabeth Ferero added 8. Senior Emily Richardson chipped in 4 points, senior Maddy Mascho added 2, and senior Hannah Gilmour rounded out the scoring with a point.
Brandenburg added 6 rebounds and 2 assists, Ferero made 2 steals and grabbed 8 boards, and Morris grabbed 4 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.
Northeast Bradford was led by Emma Neuber and Leah Beebe, who both scored 15 points.
Northeast Bradford also won the JV game, 19-2. Gilmour scored the Lady Hornets' lone basket.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the NTL Large School Division standings. The team is back in action against Sayre on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
