The Wellsboro Junior High Soccer team rolled to an 8-0 win at North Penn-Liberty on Thursday, October 12.
Wellsboro scored six goals in the first half then added two more in the second half to claim their 12th victory of the season. 5:35 into the game Wellsboro struck for the first time on a goal by Lauren Gehman and assisted by Xavier Lecker. Liam Stevens made it 2-0 from a back field chip from Wyatt Sporer then Lecker struck on an assist from Stevens.
Bradyn Benjamin got in on the scoring on an unassisted goal to push the lead to 4-0 before Octavian Wyman found the back of the net on a pass from Gage Baltzley. With a minute left in the half Ariel Acevedo gave a great through ball for a Stephen Poirier goal, giving the Hornets a 6-0 lead at the break.
In the second, Lecker scored for the second time as he cleaned up a Stevens shot. Wellsboro's final goal was scored by Gabe Cuneo with an assist from RJ Doughtie.
Camden Bryant made 1 save.
"The nil score line is a direct reflection of our defensive line, they only allowed one true shot by simply overwhelming the other team with great play," said head coach Derek Stevens.
Wellsboro also won the B game 3-1 behind goals from Colton Reese, Lane Cozby and James Doughtie. Amelia Hulslander on Doughtie's goal.
The Hornets improve to 12-0-1 on the year. They travel to Galeton tomorrow afternoon.
