Junior High Soccer Team Plays To Stalemate With Athens

The Wellsboro Junior High Soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with Athens on Wednesday, October 4.

The Hornets struck first at 1:27 from a Gabe Cuneo goal, off a chip from Bradyn Benjamin from the right. Wellsboro held onto the lead until the Wildcats too advantage of a bad bounce in the backfield roughly 10 minutes into the second half.

"We found the back of the goal really early and then couldn't get another one to go in even though we out shot them 25-3," said head coach Derek Stevens. "We were very proud of our players with the way they played and pushed the tempo."

Wellsboro's record now stands at 9-0-1 and travels to Williamson later this afternoon.
