The Wellsboro Junior High Soccer program kept their undefeated record intact following a 5-0 shut out at Athens on Tuesday, September 5.
"We got to show our depth and talent by getting quality minutes for each of our players tonight," head coach Derek Stevens said. "Ransom Schultz and Brycen Witmer shared duty as the goalie combining for 14 saves on goal. Brycen also had a great save on a penalty kick."
The Hornets got off to a fast start as Liam Stevens scored back-to-back goals. Gabe Cuneo and Xavier Lecker assisted.
Wellsboro went up 3-0 on a goal by Lauren Gehman and Kate Bryant sent a shot in from 20 yards out to put the young Hornets up 4-0 before the end of the half. In the second half, Ransom Schultz scored off a chip from Tanner Allen to make it 5-0.
Wellsboro (2-0) hosts Galeton later this evening.
