The Wellsboro Junior High Soccer team remained undefeated following a 5-1 win over Galeton on Wednesday, September 6.
"Our team put our skills on display tonight by the great game management by our keeper, our smothering defense, and the crisp ball movement from our offense," head coach Derek Stevens said.
The Hornets scored all five goals in the first half. They took 16 shots on goal while holding the Tigers to just 5 attempts. Camden Bryant had 4 saves.
Xavier Lecker scored at 2:37 off an assist from Gabe Cuneo where the ball was moved swiftly through all the forwards, then Cuneo scored off a pass from Luna Moyer. Lauren Gehman made it 3-0 in favor of the young Hornets off a Bradyn Benjamin assist, then Benjamin assisted Xavier Lecker on Wellsboro's fourth goal. Benjamin later scored off an assist from Lecker.
Galeton's only goal of the game came with 1:16 left in the game.
The Hornets improve to 3-0 on the season and are back home on Monday against Williamson.
