The Wellsboro Junior High Basketball teams cruised to wins in their only games of the week before Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, November 21.
The Girls A team won their game against Williamson 41-21, led by Teagan Novinger who had a phenomenal game, scoring 24 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. She also led the team with 4 steals. Lauren Gehman ripped down 17 boards as well and was the second highest scorer with 9 points. Ady Frantz added 8 and Emery Butters scored the other 4 points.
The B team also won their game 18-12. Emery Butters was the top scorer with 6 points and Maddie Nagy was the top rebounder with 9 boards. Butters and Gena Fleming added another 5 rebounds each.
In the boys game the Hornets won 43-5. All of Williamson's points came in the first quarter. Ransom Schultz (14) and Griffin Morral (10) both scored in double figures to led Wellsboro while Tanner Allen added 5 points. RJ Doughtie, Luke Szentesy, and Kody Enck added 4 points each and James Doughtie rounded out the scoring with 2 points.
In the B game, Wellsboro won 28-7 behind 9 points from Connor Hartman and 7 from Keegan VanZile. Tucker Bencus scored 4 points and Blake Knowlton, Jordan Hines, Braylen Jessup, and Lane Cozby all scored 2 points apiece.
Both teams are back in action next Thursday, October 30, at Cowanesque Valley.
