The Wellsboro Boys Soccer team had their 9-game unbeaten streak snapped in a 10-1 loss to Selinsgrove on Saturday, October 14.
The Hornets' lone goal came 35 seconds into the contest. A corner kick by junior Micaiah Fitch found junior Lucas Cuneo to give Wellsboro the early lead. However, the Seals quickly tied the game up five minutes later then added four more goals in the half to cushion their lead. The Seals also scored 5 more goals in the second half.
"We have them on our schedule because they will stretch us, which will help us continue to grow and develop," head coach Todd Fitch said. "They obviously did that. We scored in the opening 35 seconds on a corner and the boys put together some positive passing strings, so, score aside, I think we had some positive moments in the game."
Selinsgrove out shot Wellsboro 15-4 in the game and had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Mitchell Butler made 4 saves on the day.
The JV game ended in a 1-1 draw. Selinsgrove scored first to take the lead followed by a goal from freshman Dylan Tomlinson, assisted by freshman Kayden Rogers, to tie it.
Wellsboro (12-3-1, 10-1-1 NTL) is at Hughesville on Tuesaday.
