Hornets 1st, Girls 2nd Against NEB and North Penn-Mansfield

The Wellsboro Track teams closed out their dual meet season against Northeast Bradford and rival North Penn-Mansfield on Tuesday, May 2.

The boys team earned a pair of victories, scoring 73.75 points. North Penn-Mansfield finished 2nd with 56.25 points and Northeast Bradford was 3rd with 20 points.

North Penn-Mansfield (55) edged Wellsboro (51) to win the girls meet. Northeast Bradford finished 3rd with 43 points.

Senior Kate DeCamp was 3rd in the 100m (14.20) and 3rd in the 200m (29.99). Freshman Lilah Parades (1:15.82) was 3rd in the 400m, junior Sara Seeling (2:45.81) was 5th in the 800m, senior Madeline Gage (6:16.05) was 2nd in the 1600m, and junior Madison Robbins (16:24.44) was 4th in the 3200m.

Senior Liliana Cuneo won the 100m hurdles (18.8) and 300m hurdles (59.52) with Seeling (18.99) in 3rd in the 100m hurdles, and freshman Megan Mosher (5-ft, 5) and Brooke Wheeler (5-ft) swept the pole vault.

Sophomore Annie Gehman swept the jumping events, winning the high jump (4-ft, 6), long jump (15-ft, 9.75), and the triple jump (33-ft, 10.5).

Junior Grace Harlan (27-ft, 5) was 2nd in the shot put, junior Hannah Gilmour (71-ft, 7.5) was 3rd in the discus, and Seeling (81-ft, 6) was 2nd in the javelin.

Wellsboro was 3rd in the 4x100m relay (57.25), 3rd in the 4x400m relay (6:32.15) and 2nd in the 4x800m relay (14:10.62).

In the boys meet the Hornets swept the 100m with junior Dillion Boyce (12.09), freshman Jonathan Carl (12.17) and sophomore Jack Bryant (12.21) taking the top three spots. Boyce (24.75) won the 200m, Carl (53.48) won the 400m, freshman Max Macias (2:22.97) was 4th in the 800m, freshman Henry Whitney (13:00.61) was 3rd in the 3200m, and the Hornets swept the 1600m run with Macias (5:13.43), freshman Jude Cuneo (5:16.91) and freshman David Seeling (5:26.23) taking the top three places.

Sophomore Micah Vickery won the 110m hurdles (16.95) and was 2nd in the 300m hurdles (46.8) while junior Nehemiah Burrous was 2nd in the 110m hurdles (20.95) and 3rd in the 300m hurdles (52.31).

The Hornets were 2nd in the 4x100m relay (48.23), 3rd in the 4x400m relay (4:24.30), and 2nd in the 4x800m relay (9:57.26).

Senior Spencer Wetzel (9-ft, 6), sophomore Gabe Carpenter (9-ft, 6), and sophomore River Moyer (7-ft) swept the pole vault, Vickery (5-ft, 6) won the high jump, senior Aiden Gehman (19-ft, 0.25) won the long jump and was 2nd in the triple jump (38-ft, 11.75).

Junior Noah Morey (32-ft, 6) and senior Wyatt Gastrock (31-ft, 8.5) were 3rd and 4th in the shot put, Morey was 3rd in the javelin (130-ft, 2), and Wellsboro swept the discus with Morey (113-ft, 2.5), Gastrock (111-ft, 3), and junior Watson Feil (99-ft, 3) finishing 1st-3rd.

The Hornets have one more meet, this Friday at the Coudersport Booster Invite, before next week's NTL Championships at Athens.
