Three members of the Wellsboro Girls Soccer team were named to the NTL Girls Soccer All-Star team on Monday, November 7.
Seniors Jordyn Abernathy and Rylie Boyce and sophomore Annie Gehman were all chosen as part of the team. Boyce was a 1st team defender, Gehman was named 1st team goalie, and Abernathy earned 2nd team midfield honors.
"I am so very proud of all three of these ladies for their public recognition and achievements," head coach Jason Gehman said. "I am also extremely proud of the rest of the team who were not named to the all-stars but deserve their own recognition for their solid performance in a rebuilding year for girl's soccer. Great job, ladies!"
Abernathy led the Lady Hornets with 5 assists, 2nd on the team with 5 goals, and tied for the team lead with 20 points.
Boyce scored 1 goal on the season but was a major contributor on the defensive side of the ball in Wellsboro's six shutouts this season.
Gehman recorded 215 saves this season, allowed 33 goals, and recorded 6 shutouts.
"Jordyn was recognized by all of the NTL coaches as one of the great midfielders they faced this season and deserves a spot in the all-star lineup," continued Gehman. "She played with effectiveness and control all season long! Annie was the clear winner as the first team all-star keeper because of her high performance in goal, which featured 6 shut-outs, a low 1.87 average goals against, and an incredibly high 215 save count. Rylie was in the running for defensive player of the year. Her speed, quick thinking, and decisive nature at centerback were talked about and recognized by several of the NTL coaches. Rylie was a force to be reckoned with from game one!"
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Jordyn, Rylie, and Annie on being named to the NTL Girls Soccer All-Star team.
