Rudy's Hat Trick Helps Hornets Shut Out Galeton On Senior Night

Senior Sam Rudy had a hat trick as the Wellsboro Boys Soccer team rolled to their 7th straight win by defeating Galeton 6-0 on Tuesday, October 11.

Wellsboro jumped out to a 2-0 lead just past the midway point of the first half. With 24:17 showing on the clock, junior Caden Smith scored as Rudy assisted. Rudy would score his first goal of the evening at 19:36 on a solo shot in front of the goal.

The Hornets would then go on to add four more goals in the second half. Senior Peyton McClure opened the scoring midway through the second half off a corner kick by senior Jack Poirier. Poirier scored the following goal off a Rudy assist. Rudy's final two goals came with under 5 minutes to go. Poirier assisted Rudy on a breakaway for goal number three.

Wellsboro took 23 shots on goal while holding the Tigers to just one shot, saved by senior Aiden Gehman.

Wellsboro also won the JV game by shut out, beating Galeton 4-0. Freshman Mason Nowak, junior Blake Solow, freshman Jacoby Strang, and sophomore River Moyer had goals for the Hornets. Freshman David Seeling assisted on Solow's goal.

The win improves the Hornets to 13-2 (11-0 NTL). The team is back in action on Thursday at home against Athens.
