Manchester's 23 Sinks Lady Hornets At Towanda

Towanda's Paige Manchester scored a game-high 23 points and teammate Brynn Woodruff added 19 to lead the Lady Knights to a 47-35 win over the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team on Tuesday, December 20.

"We battled hard and played really well but came up short," head coach Darrell Morris said.

Towanda took an early 13-6 lead in the open quarter and won all but the third quarter to send the Lady Hornets home with a loss.

Sophomore Chloe Brandenburg led Wellsboro with 17 points. Sophomore Paige Logsdon and seniors Hailie Kerr and Ella Posada added 4 points each, junior Maddy Mascho pitched in three points, junior Olivia Chilson scored two points, and junior Emily Richardson rounded out the scoring with a point. Logdson and Mascho grabbed 9 rebounds each and Posada made 4 steals.

Towanda edged Wellsboro 16-14 in the JV game, dropping the Lady Hornets to 0-4. Richardson scored 4 points to lead Wellsboro.

The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 2-4 (2-2 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action at Hughesville on Friday, December 23.
