The Loyalsock Lancers handed the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Soccer team their first loss of the season in a 4-0 win on Saturday, September 17.
"We committed a few fouls that gave them free kicks just out from goal and they converted on the opportunities," head coach Todd Fitch said. "Ultimately, they were simply the better team today."
The Lancers scored twice in both halves while holding the Hornets to just six shots on goal over the course of the afternoon. Loyalsock took 10 shots on goal, six of them were saved by senior Aiden Gehman.
Loyalsock had a slim 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 behind goals from sophomore River Moyer and freshman Jonathan Carl. Both were unassisted.
The loss drops the Hornets to 6-1 (5-0 NTL). The team is back in action for another non-league match against Montoursville at home on Monday, September 19.
