Northeast Bradford defeated the Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team 36-11 in their home-opener on Tuesday, December 13.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to a 13-6 lead after the first quarter then held the Lady Hornets scoreless in the 2nd and to just 5 total points in the second half while turning the ball over 32 times.
Kate O'Connor led all scorers with 12 points.
Junior Emily Richardson led Wellsboro with 3 points while sophomore Chloe Brandenburg, junior Maddy Mascho, sophomore Paige Logsdon, and senior Ella Posada all scored two points. Brandenburg grabbed 9 rebounds and made 2 steals, Logsdon added 7 boards. Mascho had 3 steals and 5 rebounds, and senior Molly Ingerick had 3 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
NEB won the JV game 25-5. Freshman Rowan Butters led Wellsboro with 4 points and junior Olivia Chilson had a point.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 1-3 (1-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Thursday, December 15 against Athens.
