After a loss to Northeast Bradford on Wednesday, the Wellsboro Lady Hornets rebounded to top Williamson 48-29 on Friday, January 28 thanks to a 22-point third quarter.
Wellsboro held a slim 9-6 lead after the first but opened the lead up to 10 points at the half as they outscored the Lady Warriors 12-5 in the second to lead 21-11. The Lady Hornets then put together their biggest scoring quarter of the year as they went on a 22-6 run to break the game open and lead 43-17 heading into the final quarter.
Freshman Paige Logsdon led all scorers with 17 points and also grabbed 16 rebounds. Sophomore Maddy Mascho and senior Emma Coolidge both scored 7 points, senior Emma Brandenburg added 5, junior Ella Posada and freshman Chloe Brandenburg each added 4 points, and junior Alyssa Bisbing and sophomore Emily Morris finished with 2 points each.
Coolidge also grabbed 13 rebounds and made 5 assists.
Wellsboro won the JV game 20-4 to improve to 8-5. Sophomore Emily Richardson led Wellsboro with 8 points.
The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 7-7 (6-4 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action at Troy on Tuesday, February 1.
