The Wellsboro Varsity Girls Basketball team fell to NTL Small School Division leaders Northeast Bradford on Wednesday, January 26.
The Lady Panthers had the Lady Hornets doubled up at 16-8 after the first quarter then expanded their lead by outscoring Wellsboro 18-10 in the second quarter. In the second half NEB held Wellsboro to 11 points as they cruised for the 54-29 win.
Freshman Paige Logsdon led Wellsboro with 14 points. Senior Emma Coolidge had 7 points and 3 assists, sophomores Maddy Mascho and Emily Morris had 3 points each, and senior Emma Brandenburg rounded out the scoring with 2 points and also had 2 assists and a steal.
Maisie Neuber (18) and Kayleigh Thoman (15) led NEB on the evening.
In the JV game the Lady Hornets held NEB (undefeated) to 19 points, but ended up falling 19-11. Morris (7) and sophomore Olivia Chilson (4) scored for Wellsboro.
The loss drops Wellsboro to 6-7 overall and 5-4 in the NTL Large School Division standings. The team is back in action on Friday, January 28 at home against Williamson.
