The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team ended a three-game slide following a 3-1 NTL cross-over win against Sayre on Tuesday, September 27.
The Lady Hornets doubled up Sayre 25-12 in the first set, but the Lady Redskins rallied to take set two, 25-23. Wellsboro would take the third set 25-18, and hold off Sayre 25-21 in the fourth set to win the game.
Sophomore Lexi Urena led the Lady Hornets with 14 points (3 aces), 18 assists, and 7 digs. Senior Emily Starkweather had 10 points, 7 kills, and 11 digs, junior Meredith Brownlee had 13 kills, 8 points, and 12 digs, and junior Brianna Rathbun scored 6 points.
Senior Maddi Bordas finished with 9 assists, 7 points, and 7 digs and sophomore Paige Logsdon had 10 kills, 9 blocks, and 4 digs. Junior Olivia Chilson also added 2 points and 2 digs.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0.
The win in the Varsity game improves the Lady Hornets to 7-5 (4-3 NTL Large School Division). The girls retake the court in a week when they host rival North Penn-Liberty.
