The Wellsboro Junior High Baseball team swept a doubleheader at Towanda on Monday, April 25.
In the first game the young Hornets won 8-1 and then won 17-0 in 4 innings in the second game.
In game one, Wellsboro scored 7 runs in the 1st inning to put the game firmly in their control. Izaya Campbell, John McConaghy, Syler Pietrzyk, Garrett Kaltenbach, Jacob Heckman, and Chace Priset recorded hits, with Kaltenbach hitting a triple and driving in 2 runs. Priset also had a 3-RBI day.
Dylan Copp, Max Mascho, and Luke Rothermel all saw time on the mound, combining for 1 hit, 7 walks and 12 strikeouts. Copp earned the win.
In game two Marek Mascho threw a 4-inning no hitter with 8 strikeouts to lead Wellsboro. The Hornet offense again got out of the gate early, scoring 8 runs in the 1st, 5 in the 2nd, then added 4 in the 4th. Jude Cuneo, Gavyn Jelliff (2), Copp (2), Marek Mascho (2), Drayden McGee (2), Rothermel, and Coen Tennis had hits. Marek Mascho also drove in 4 runs whith Copp adding 3 RBIs.
The Hornets (7-0-1) are back in action on Saturday, April 30 at Troy.
