Junior High Basketball Teams Sweep Liberty

The Wellsboro Junior High Basketball teams each picked up wins over North Penn-Liberty on Monday, December 12.

The boys won 39-11 and the girls won 25-6.

In the boys game the Hornets led 11-0 after the 1st quarter and held the Mounties to just 5 made baskets the rest of the game as they rolled to their 11th win of the season. Griffin Morral (12) and Ransom Schultz (10) led the Hornets in scoring. Keagan Spaar added 4 points, Ethan Keane finished with 3, and Colin Fletcher, Gideon Lawton, RJ Doughtie, Luke Szentesy, and Max Mascho all added two points each.

Mascho added 9 rebounds, Morral grabbed 8 rebounds, Schultz came down with 7 rebounds, Keane had 3 rebounds and 2 assists, Sparr and Szentesy had 3 boards each, and Doughtie had 4 rebounds and a steal.

Wellsboro also won the B game 22-12 behind 6 points from Reed Richardson and 5 from Doughtie and Szentesy.

In the girls game the Lady Hornets trailed 3-2 after the first quarter and kept the game close until they went on a 13-0 run in the 4th quarter to secure the win. Lauren Gehman led all scorers with 6 points, Mazie Johnson finished with 5 points, Delaney Morral added 4 points, and Rylee Coolidge, Kate Bryant, Adelyn Frantz, Peyton Keane, and Teagan Novinger all chipped in two points.

In the B game Liberty won 26-4. Madison Nagy and Rosa Sguera each scored two points.

The Hornets are back on the court on Friday, December 16 as they hit the road for Wyalusing.
