An 18-point fourth quarter pushed the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team past Jersey Shore 56-50 on Monday, February 14.
The Hornets held a 23-18 lead at halftime but the Bulldogs outscored Wellsboro 22-15 in the third quarter to go up 40-38 heading into the final quarter. Wellsboro then went on an 18-10 run over the final 8 minutes to take the win.
Senior Liam Manning led all scorers with 20 points, junior Conner Adams had 15, junior Peyton McClure finished with 11, senior Darryn Callahan added 6, and junior Cameron Brought and senior Drew Manning chipped in with 2 points each.
"We grinded out the win against a solid Jersey Shore team," head coach Steve Adams said. I am proud of how the boys fought to the end to get the win."
Jersey Shore won the JV game 50-28. Sophomore Caden Smith led Wellsboro with 10 points.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 16-5 (12-3 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action for the final time in the regular season on Wednesday, February 16 against Towanda for Senior Night.
