Senior Joseph Doty was named NTL Boys Tennis Player of the Year as the league released their all-star team on Tuesday, June 14.
Doty was 2nd on the team in singles win percentage, finishing 9-7 (0.563). He was also 2-1 in doubles with partner, senior Liam Manning. The pair also made it to the quarterfinals of the District IV tournament.
Joining Doty on this year's all-star team were Liam Manning, seniors Drew Manning and Owen Richardson and sophomore Jacob Abadi.
Liam Manning was a 1st team selection, going 5-8 (0.385) in singles competition and went 2-1 in doubles with Doty.
Richardson (1st team) led the Hornets with a 9-5 (0.643) record and helped lead Wellsboro into the District IV team tournament semi-finals.
Drew Manning (2nd team) went a combined 10-2 in doubles competition.
Abadi (2nd team) was 3-1 in singles competition and was 1-0 in his only doubles match of the season with teammate Aiden Gehman.
"Joe had a phenomenal year last season at third singles, and he was even more impressive this season at the #1 spot," said head coach Andy Borzok. "He approached every match as if he was going to win, and his determination pulled him out of several matches in which he got behind early. Joe's individual success was instrumental to our success as a team and he will really be missed next season."
WellsboroAthletics.com would like to congratulate Joseph, Owen, Liam, Drew, and Jacob on their all-star selections.
