The Wellsboro Middle School Soccer team's record remained perfect as they scored a 2-1 win over Athens on Tuesday, September 21.
"The team really were putting together some great passes tonight. A few more adjustments and this team will take the next step," head coach Derek Stevens said.
Both Hornet goals were scored in the first half. Cameron Owlett scored on a corner kick from Jude Cuneo to make it 1-0, then Keira Stone made a hustle play on the goal line saving the ball and making a great pass for Jude Cuneo to put one in to make it 2-0.
The young Wildcats cut the lead in half with 18 minutes remaining.
In the B game Wellsboro won 1-0 behind a Mason Brill goal on a header.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 3-0. The team is back at home against Towanda this afternoon.
