The Wellsboro Junior High Boys Basketball Team was defeated by Towanda 39-20 to finish the season.
The Hornets only trailed 9-8 after 1 quarter, but a 12-2 run from Towanda in the second quarter helped break the game open and the Hornets trailed 21-10 at halftime. Another close quarter in the third kept Wellsboro within 12 points entering the fourth quarter, but Towanda went on another 10-3 run to close out the game.
"Towanda was quick and athletic and we struggled to contain their guards which led to penetration and easy baskets," said coach Kyle Smith. "It's unfortunate the season ended with a loss, but this team made great strides this year. The potential for this team moving forward is promising and at the end of the day, we were all very thankful to be able to play basketball this season."
Micah Vickery led the Hornets with 9 points, Mitchel Lechler scored 7 points, Owen Stevens scored 2 points and Drayden McGee scored 2 points.
