The Wellsboro Boys Middle School Basketball Team lost to North Penn Mansfield Saturday by a final score of 38-25 on Saturday, February 13. Both teams started off slowly, but the visiting Tigers led 17-8 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for the victory.
"The defensive effort and intensity was lacking at the beginning of the game and we struggled to shoot the ball well today," head coach Kyle Smith said. "We are thankful to finally play a game and we will need to make adjustments throughout the season. We are excited to work with this group of boys moving forward. They have the potential to be a good basketball team."
Micaiah Fitch paced the hornets with 7 points, Marek Mascho scored 5, E.J. Keck, Mitchel Lechler and Micah Vickery all had 3 points and Drayden McGee and Braeden Abernathy both added 2 points.
The B team won 35-14. Jonathan Carl led the hornets with 12 points, Payton Yawger had 8 points, Landen Wescott and Jacob Baldwin each scored 4 points, Marek Mascho scored 3, and Noah Zengerle and Braeden Abernathy had 2 points each.
