The Wellsboro Boys Middle School Basketball Team lost 46-27 to Sayre on Saturday, November 13.
Despite leading 20-17 at halftime, the Hornets were outscored 14-5 in the third quarter and 15-2 in the fourth quarter.
"We played a great first half and had some momentum going into the second half, but we were a little banged up and had a difficult time scoring points in the second half," said head coach Kyle Smith. "Sayre is a solid team and they have some scorers who were difficult to shut down for four quarters. We did a great job limiting their opportunities in the first half, but could not sustain that effort in the second half."
Aaron Kirk paced the Hornets with 10 points, Jonathan Carl had 8 points, Jacob Baldwin had 6 points, and Luke Rothermel added 3 points.
Wellsboro won the B game 26-22. Keagan Spaar led the Hornets with 11 points, Max Mascho scored 5 points, Mason Brill scored 5 points, Noah Zengerle scored 3 points and Gideon Lawton added 2 points.
The Hornets (0-2) hosts Canton on Tuesday, November 16.
