The Wellsboro Hornets Middle School boys basketball team defeated Cowanesque Valley 38-12 to complete the season on Monday, December 20.
The Hornets jumped out to a 10-3 lead after the first quarter and led 16-6 at halftime. The Hornets then broke the game open by outscoring the Indians 14-4 in the third quarter.
"The boys should be proud of their effort and progress throughout the season," coach Kyle Smith said. "This was one of the most unselfish teams I have ever coached. They played great team basketball throughout the season."
Aaron Kirk led the Hornets with 18 points, Jacob Baldwin scored 6 points, Jonathan Carl scored 4 points, Ethan Keane scored 2 points, Maxwell Mascho scored 2 points, Drayden McGee scored 2 points, Noah Zengerle scored 2 points and Max Macias scored 2 points.
The Wellsboro B Team won 26-23 to finish the season undefeated with a 14-0 record. Marek Mascho scored 11 points, Maxwell Mascho scored 8 points, and Gideon Lawton scored 7 points.
The Hornets finish the season with a 13-3 record.
