The Wellsboro Middle School Basketball teams picked up a pair of wins at Canton on Tuesday, December 7.
The boys team won for their 10th consecutive win. The Hornets started fast and led 13-2 after the first quarter and 29-5 at the half. Wellsboro then outscored Canton 14-9 in the second half to secure the victory.
Aaron Kirk paced the Hornets with 13 points, Drayden McGee and Ethan Keane scored 6 points, Luke Rothermel, Noah Zengerle and Max Macias all scored 4 points, and Jonathan Carl, Keagan Spaar and Jacob Baldwin each scored 2 points.
The Hornet B team won 24-12 behind 8 points from Keagan Spaar, 6 points from Mason Brill, 4 points from Maxwell Mascho, and 3 points each from Gideon Lawton and Joseph Baldwin.
In the girls game the Lady Hornets erased a 4-game losing streak after a 29-14 win over the young Lady Warriors. The Lady Hornets held a slim 6-4 lead after the opening quarter but outscored Canton 10-8 in the 2nd and 7-0 in the third to put the game in their control. Alyssa Chilson led Wellsboro with 14 points, Lily Wagner added 5, and Lilah Parades chipped in with 4.
The boys team travels to face rival North Penn-Mansfield this evening. Both teams are back in action Saturday on the road in Troy.
