The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team had their two-game win streak snapped as they dropped a five-set game to Towanda on Tuesday, September 21.
The Lady Hornets won the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-23. Towanda then took the third set 25-7 and the fourth 25-18 to even it up at 2 sets apiece to force a 5th set. Towanda edged Wellsboro 15-13 in the 5th set for the win.
Junior Madaline Bordas had 31 assists, 7 points and an ace, senior Olivia Servatius made 29 assists and had 7 points and an ace. Freshman Paige Logsdon had 11 kills and 5 blocks, junior Emily Starkweather scored 12 points (2 aces) and had 11 digs and 8 kills, sophomore Natalie Cleveland had 10 digs, senior Emma Owlett had 6 kills, and sophomore Meredith Brownlee had 17 points and 2 aces.
Wellsboro won the JV game 2-0 (27-25 and 25-12) to stay undefeated at 6-0.
The loss drops the Lady Hornets to 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the NTL Large School Division standings. The team is back in action for a non-league game at Williamsport on Thursday, September 23.
