A day after dropping their first game of the year the Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team rebounded to win the consolation game of the Shamokin Christmas Tournament on Wednesday, December 29.
The Hornets beat North Schuylkill 70-55.
"This was a total team effort," head coach Steve Adams said. "We played really hard and got good contributions from everyone."
Wellsboro jumped out to a 14-9 lead after the first quarter, then exploded 23-point third quarter to lead 53-38 entering the fourth quarter.
Two Hornets finished in double-figures in the score book on the night led by junior Conner Adams with a game-high 24 points. Senior Liam Manning added 12 points and 10 rebounds. Seniors Drew Manning and Darryn Callahan, and junior Peyton McClure all had 9 points on the evening, and junior Cameron Brought rounded out the scoring with 7 points. Callahan also grabbed 10 rebounds and made 6 steals, Adams added 5 assists to his point total, Drew Manning had 7 rebounds, and McClure also added 5 assists.
The Hornets improve to 5-1 and are back in action on Monday, January 3 for a non-league game at St. John Neumann.
