The Wellsboro Varsity Boys Basketball team outscored Williamson 46-11 in the first half en route to a 71-19 NTL Large School Division win on Wednesday, January 20.
The Hornets opened up the game with back-to-back 23-point quarters while holding the visiting Warriors to just 7 points in the first quarter and 4 points each over the remaining three quarters.
Juniors Liam Manning and Darryn Callahan propelled the Hornets in the first half, combining for 28 of the Hornets' 46 points. Manning finished with a game-high 22 points, 20 coming in the first half. Callahan finished with 14 points, and sophomore Peyton McClure scored 11. Sophomore Conner Adams and juniors Isaac Keane and Ryan Sweet scored 4 points each, senior Daniel Swanson and freshman Hayes Campbell added 3 points, and junior Drew Manning and sophomores Spencer Wetzel and Cameron Brought chipped in two points each.
Drew Manning grabbed 7 rebounds, Callahan had 6 steals, and Keane made 6 assists.
Wellsboro won the JV game 52-29. Campbell scored 16 points to lead the Hornets while freshman Caden Smith added 11.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 2-1 (2-1 NTL Large School Division). The team is back in action on Friday at home against Sayre.
