Senior Will Poirier became the first player in Wellsboro Soccer history to achieve 50 career goals and 50 career assists in a 10-1 win over Williamson on Saturday, October 3.
Poirier needed three goals coming into Saturday's contest and hit that mark as the first half came to an end.
"This team has developed a dynamic rhythm in their style of play," head coach Todd Fitch said. "It has been and continues to be fun to watch them play this game."
Poirier finished with three goals on the evening, becoming Wellsboro's first-ever player to score 50 goals and record 50 assists. Seniors Zach Singer and Joseph Grab scored a pair of goals, while senior Kaeden Mann, Owen Richardson, and sophomore Jack Poirier all scored single goals.
Wellsboro took 39 shots on goal and held Williamson to just 1, and had a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
In the JV game Williamson topped Wellsboro 4-2. Sophomore Peyton McClure and freshman Ian Hoose scored the Hornet goals.
On Friday the JV team traveled to Athens to take on the Wildcats and came home with a 5-0 win. Sophomore Sam Rudy and freshman Caden Smith scored a pair of goals and freshman Noah Morey added the 5th. McClure (1) and junior Ayden Magli (2) assisted on the goals.
The win in the varsity game improves the Hornets' record to 6-0 overall and in the league. The team is back in action tonight against North Penn-Liberty.
