Middle School Hornets score 5-1 win over Towanda

The Wellsboro Middle School soccer team secured a 5-1 win on the road at Towanda on Wednesday, September 16 to start their 2020 season.

Wellsboro's first goal was scored in the 22nd minute of the first half by Micaiah Fitch. Fitch followed up with a second goal with 5 minutes remaining and Wellsboro finished the half up 2 goals to none. Wellsboro struck quickly in the second half with a goal by Alex Citrino just 8 minutes in. Fitch scored his 3rd goal 3 minutes later.

Towanda scored their only goal with 12 minutes to go in the match. Wellsboro answered with another Fitch goal (assist by Lucas Cuneo) 2 minutes later with 10 minutes remaining in the match. Wellsboro took 14 shots on goal to Towanda's 4 and Keeper Annie Gehman had 3 saves in goal for Wellsboro.

The Hornets (1-0) are back in action on Saturday, September 19 at Williamson.
