The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team swept Towanda for their second straight match on Monday, October 19.
"We played great defense tonight and really kept ourselves in rallies," said head coach Sharon Zuchowski. "Towanda was ready for us and played well at home on Senior night."
The Lady Hornets won a tough first set 27-25, cruised to a 25-12 win in the second set, then held on for a 25-23 third set win to claim the sweep.
Senior Kathryn Burnett led Wellsboro with 24 digs, 16 points, and 3 aces, senior Breighanna Kemp had 15 assists and 9 kills, 6 points and an ace, and junior Jordan Judlin had 15 assists, 6 kills, and 6 points (2 aces). Senior Bailey Monks had 11 kills and 2 blocks, senior Shiloh Duff had 3 blocks, and senior Alina Pietrzyk made 9 digs.
Towanda swept Wellsboro 2-0, 25-18 and 28-26) in the JV game to drop the Lady Hornets' record to 3-6.
The Varsity win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 8-2 overall and in the NTL Large School Division. The team is back in action later this evening at home against rival North Penn-Liberty.
