Lady Hornets sweep CV to start season

The Wellsboro Varsity Volleyball team started the 2020 season off on a high note with a 3-0 shutout over Cowanesque Valley on Friday, September 11.

The Lady Hornets won the first set 25-17, the second 25-20, an the third 25-22 for the sweep. Senior Bailey Monks had 10 kills and 2 blocks, senior Breighanna Kemp recorded 15 assists and scored 17 points (4 aces), and senior Kathryn Burnett had 15 digs. Senior Olivia Crocco and junior Jordan Judlin scored 5 points each.

Cowanesque Valley won the JV game 2-1. Wellsboro won the first set 27-25 then the Lady Indians won 25-18 and 15-12 in the win.

The win improves the Lady Hornets' record to 1-0 (1-0 NTL Large School Division. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, September 15 at Williamson.
