Lady Hornets suffer 2-1 loss to Athens

In a match up of the two undefeated teams in NTL Girls Soccer, the Athens Lady Wildcats edged the Lady Hornets 2-1 in Athens on Thursday, October 8.

After a scoreless first period the Lady Wildcats scored two quick goals, one by Emma Roe and one by Hannah Blackman, to put Wellsboro in a 2-0 hole in the opening seven minutes of the second half. Athens maintained their 2-0 lead until the Lady Hornets got on the board with 6:30 remaining on a goal from senior Kerrah Clymer off an assist by senior Cara Tennis.

Wellsboro was out shot 7-4 on the afternoon by Athens.

Junior Lilly Abadi recorded 4 saves in goal for Wellsboro.

The loss is the Lady Hornets' first of the season, bringing their record to 6-1-1. The team is back in action on Saturday, October 10 at North Penn-Mansfield.
