The Wellsboro Boys Soccer team completed a perfect, undefeated, regular season after defeating Towanda 16-1 in the rain at home on Tuesday, October 20.
The Hornets' other two remaining regular season contests versus Troy later in the week were cancelled.
"After receiving word on the cancellation of the Troy matches this week, we were thankful to be back on the field again," said head coach Todd Fitch. "The weather was poor, but it was a great night for us to wrap up the regular season."
The Hornets scored 8 goals each half en route to the lopsided win, with the Black Knights' goal coming late in the game.
Seniors Kaeden Mann and Jonathan Wetzel each scored hat tricks, seniors Ethan Ryan and Will Poirier, junior Brody Morral, and sophomore Jack Poirier all scored two goals each, and senior Zach Singer and sophomore Sam Rudy each added a goal.
Wellsboro took 26 shots on goal while holding Towanda to just 4 attempts.
The win improves the Hornets' record to 10-0. Next up for Wellsboro are the District IV Class AA playoffs. The Hornets are currently the #2 seed behind Lewisburg (15-0).
