The Wellsboro Middle School Girls Basketball team dropped a 21-11 game to rival North Penn-Mansfield on Tuesday, November 19.
After trailing 6-2 after the 1st quarter, Mansfield outscored the young Lady Hornets 9-1 in the 2nd quarter to take an 11-7 lead into halftime. Wellsboro continued to struggle as they managed just 4 points the entire 2nd half.
"We started well offensively with 6 early points, but then went cold shooting the rest of the night going 4-for-34 from the floor and 3-of-11 from the foul line," head coach Darrell Morris said. "We certainly had opportunities, but just couldn't get anything going offensively after the fast start."
Chloe Brandenburg had 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal, Maddy Mascho (9 rebounds, 1 steal, 3 assists), and Emily Richardson (1 rebound) had 3 points each. Hannah Gilmour added 1 point and 2 rebounds, Emily Morris had 2 rebounds and 2 steals, Emily Pierce had 1 rebound and 1 steal, Olivia Chilson added 5 rebounds, Hannalee Cleveland added 1 rebound, and Paige Logsdon had 1 rebound and 2 steals.
In the B game Wellsboro defeated Mansfield 20-13. Chloe Brandenburg had 8 points, Emily Pierce and Nevaeh Rinebold had 4 points each, and Paige Logsdon and Raegan Bourrett had 2 points each.
Wellsboro hosts Sayre on Thursday, November 21.
